Hello, my zombie running enthusiasts and exercise freaks!
Although I’ve been away, I’m never totally gone!
I did see results from the 3 weeks I did of the Brazilian Butt Lift program. I didn’t have extra weights or the band to challenge me, so after 3 weeks it became redundant. This doesn’t mean I won’t pick it up again. I do have the ankle weights now, so hopefully it’ll be a challenge and I can get trim. I’ll post when I pick it up again.
I’ve been hitting the gym on and off for the past 2 months. This freaky weather resulted in an 24-hour flu and 3 week bronchial cough that wouldn’t subside. This, running, eating smaller portions, and lifting weights has resulted in some weight lost. In November, I weighed 134…it’s May and I now weigh 122. Stomachs getting flatter!!!! (Victory)
How you might ask?
In my early entries, I’ve only ran 1 or 2 miles before hitting the weights, but I bumped it to 2-3 miles now. I know it’s been a over a year and a half since I’ve started and this is a slow progression, but any progression even in moments of unattainability are miraculous victories.
These are blog entries of my mini victories…
Tampa Bay, FL’s Girls on the Run 5K for Breast Cancer
It’s a great after school program for young girls promoting exercise, health, and self-esteem.
Time: 27:52 :D
(1 minute better than April 2012’s Pancreatic Cancer 5K in NYC)
Number 6 in my age group!
The course was flat and it was Florida warm. The low altitude provided for more oxygen flow resulting in easier breaths. It was a great run and the day resulted with me and my cousins laying out in the beach. It was a Great Day!
The Electric run is in July and the Color Run in August. I’m going to use May and June to tone up and better my time.
I don’t usually sets time goals like this, but here it goes!
5k in under 25 minutes!
Here I go!
Hello, my zombie-loving exercising friends!
I understand that it’s been a while since my lazy butt has been working out and writing, but my butt is actually getting in shape.
How? You might ask.
I’m trying the Brazilian Butt Lift Workout Program!
Like I’ve mentioned before, with going to makeup school and working, I didn’t have the time to get back to my running, but I did lose weight during my time at school. (8-10 lbs, I was 134 lbs went down to 124 lbs.) I’m guessing this happened because I woke up everyday at 8:30am and ate breakfast before school. And again at 12:30pm or 1:00pm and a light dinner whenever I had the chance. And Sleeping 8 hours.
If you have a steady schedule, I recommend working out in the morning and eating breakfast everyday.
After losing that weight, I realized my body lost alot of muscle and is mushy, so I realized I want to tighten up and the Brazilian Butt Lift seems like a good way to work on my problem areas: Butt, Thighs, and Abs.
So, back to my Butt!
Today is Day 5 of the workout and I must say I feel parts of my bum bum (brazilian for butt, according to the trainer) that I’ve never felt before. This program is a month long and since I’m pear-shaped, I’m doing that program.
Yes! There are different programs for different shapes.
By the 2nd time you do the Bum Bum exercise part, the soreness begins to go away, but the ab workout from the 2nd day before is still sore even today (day 5). (Refer to program page above)
I’m really enjoying this workout so far, the instructor has a brazilian accent and says bum bum and butt all the time, so I can’t help but laugh and enjoy the workout. Even when on your resting day (yesterday) you went to Red Lobster and had an order of mozzerella sticks with 3 long island iced teas, you could enjoy the workout!
My problem with working out is commitment and being it is day 5, all I can say is: SO FAR SO GOOD.
What I don’t have a problem with is committing to the Walking Dead! Holy Cow! The mid-season started off amazingly.
When the weather begins to get warmer and after my month of working out my bum bum, I’m going to put on my running shoes and concentrate on running for the impending apocalypse. Because, let’s be real, the cold weather this year sucks.
If I could get off my lazy butt, then you can, too! What’s good about trying to get in shape is that you could always start, the problem (my problem) is keeping up. But you won’t know what you are capable of if you don’t try! :-)
Don’t let negative thoughts INFECT your day! Have a great one!!!
I know it’s been forever and a half since I’ve written, but I wanted to update you on my training…
It’s pretty non-existant… :-(
BUT the good news is, now I do have time for it!!!!

My ankle is back in action and so am I! Oh, running, how I missed you…
After months of limping around like a zombie, i began to get back to a slow and steady running flow when I went to visit my good friend, drea, at her home in brigantine. She lives right by the water (as shown above), so the sea breeze cooled the temperature and made my first K and a half easy. Before my run, I stretched and set my Nike+ for 5K. Here are my stats according to Nike+:
Not bad. I slowed down my gym workout, so my endurance is not as high. Also, I went to Atlantic City the night before…nuff said. The run was definitely needed and it was beautiful running by the beach.
Running date: August 7, 2012
This day I almost died…
I ran in my hometown of Perth Amboy, nj and set my distance as 5K. I planned on running from my house, up new Brunswick, across convery blvd, down to the Flynn school towards Florida grove rd, then down that road back home. Here are my stats according to Nike+:
Pace: 9’20 per mile
Distance: 2.91 Km
I didn’t make it back home because I ended up having an allergic reaction to the shrimp I ate 2 hours prior my run. It was a good thing I stopped at a family friends house for some water and got a ride home before it broke out in the middle of no where! After throwing up and Benadryl, I was ok, but it was scary as this has never happened to me before. (special thanks to Madison Jimenez!)
This Friday, the 17th, I will be getting a Tonsilectomy. I will probably hit the gym and the heavy bag (boxing) tonight. After surgury, I won’t be running until September :-(
I wanted to sign up for this FUN 5k on September 1st in Englishtown, NJ, but my dad said no because I will only be 2 weeks after recovering from my tonsillectomy. (Whomp Whomp) It looks like super fun and I wouldn’t recommend it, if it wasn’t at least an 8 on the fun scale! A couple of my friends have done it, and it’s for a good cause: Multiple Sclerosis. They have many races around the US, so sign up for one near you!!!! http://thecolorrun.com/
Today is the 14th of June and it’s been a month and 9 or 10 days since Run for Your Lives Boston and my untimely death due to a sprained ankle.
I haven’t been running due to doctor’s orders, but I have been working out.
Once I stopped being completely crippled (like 3 weeks ago), I began lifting weights. Doctor said not to do any strenuous workouts, such as running. -_- 20 lbs is the most I could lift now. I also squat with weights. 25 lbs on each side and the 40 lbs bar. I use 10 lbs for that area under your bicep that makes you look like you have wings, to slim them down.
Doc said I could do light cardio such as swimming, walking, and going on the eliptacle. The eliptacle (sp?) is my cardio of choice for now and I’ve been doing 5k on that. Yesterday was my first attempted at the treadmill and I lost balance a lot. My right leg is weak from not putting too much pressure on my injured ankle. My ankle hurts a bit, so I didn’t push it on the treadmill. I ran for 2 minutes and walked for 2 minutes for an overall, 20 minutes. My stamina is better, Heart wise, but not my leg strength.
LOOK AT MY ARMS!!!!! TIGHTENING UP!
It’s been 2 weeks since Run for your Lives: Boston on May 5th, 2012. This was the day I’ve sprained my left ankle as opposed to my right ankle which was previously sprained at Run for your Lives: Baltimore-October 22nd, 2011. It is still swollen. 2 weeks later.
I thought after a week it would go down, but with work and wanting to run, I haven’t given my ankle the proper rest. When week one after the incident or end of my world happened, my brother and I went to the hospital. He needed to check out his foot (which was fractured) and I my ankle. It’s only a sprain, but the ER doctor said I should get an MRI to see how bad the tear is. Considering it’s been 2 weeks and my ankle still looks like a kankle… pretty darn.
I’m just upset that I can’t run. I’ve been on the elyptacle (sp?) once a week to keep up with cardo, but perhaps that’s not helping. And neither is having High Heel Fridays.
